The Family, Luc Besson (2013) 

The Family follows a New York mob family called the Manzoni family who have been located to  Normandy France in the witness protection program. 



The Family was directed and written by Luc Besson, he has previously worked on Lucy and has written all three of the Taken movies. Luc was born in Paris, France on March 18 1959. Luc Besson has been nominated for 48 awards winning 26 of them, including one BAFTA for Nil by Mouth in 1988. 

The stars of the film are Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Argon. De Niro has stared in a lot of other Mob or gangster films such as Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, Casino and The Godfather II.

The family shows the comedy side of the Mafia genre instead of which is normal crime thriller the the Mob genre began. In the Family shows the Manzoni family out of their environment, by living a normal quite life.  In the family their are many references to Classic mob film, in the family De Niro's character is explaining life in New York to a French crowed shortly after watching the classic film Goodfellas. Luc Besson also shines a light to real life Mob history. These stories are told through De Niro's memoirs.
